Burning Soul Ventures grew out of founder Lauren Eckhardt’s lifelong pull toward stories and the people behind them. When she was only nine years old, she wrote a collection of essays called One Burning Soul—a child’s attempt to make sense of the world and speak to things that felt too big to ignore: bullying, racism, courage, kindness, and the choices that shape who we become.
The name came from a vision that stayed with her throughout her life: a person trapped in a glass box, pounding on the walls, screaming to be seen, desperate to be heard, while the world walked by unseeing. This powerful image became the foundation of everything she went on to build. It represented people whose voices were quieted, whose identities became blurry, whose purposes were buried, or who had never been asked about their life story.
